Thomas Mitchell

Thomas Clayton Mitchell passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Giles County on April 24, 1928 and was 91 years old. He grew up in the Beech Hill Community and graduated Beech Hill High School in 1947. He worked for Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa in the 50's, Enthone Inc. in Bridgewiew, Illinois until 1979, then moved back to Giles County and worked for Fafnir and farmed until 2015. He was a longtime member of the Giles County Laity Club and Methodist Men's Choir. He also taught youth and adult Sunday School classes for many years. He enjoyed golfing, quail hunting and family and friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home with Pastor, Brandon Bass officiating. Burial in Giles Memory Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Wesley and Bertha Ozelle Harwell Mitchell, sisters, Lois Faulkner and Carole Williams, brother, Morris Mitchell and 3 infant daughters. He is survived by his Wife of 64 years, Phyllis Mitchell of Pulaski Daughter, Kathy Henry of Pulaski Granddaughter, Lauren (Alex) Thurman of Thompson Station Great-grandson, Elliott Clayton Thurman. sister, Maxie (Joe) Ward of Nolensville, TN. brother William "Bill" (Faye) Mitchell of Cornersville, TN.
